ANGRY MEMBERS OF OGIEK COMMUNITY SET FIREWOODS THAT WERE CARRIED BY DONKEYS TO BLAZE.

Today members of the Ogiek community who were angry together with their youths managed to arrest a number of donkeys ferryng indigenous firewood for commercial purposes in Mariashoni forest station to outside Mariashoni and they set the shown firewood to blaze.

According to the understanding the donkeys ferryng firewoods were permitted by forester Mariashoni and his forest guard.

The exercise of marking the boundaries by the government in the East part of Mau has excluded the Ogiek Community. This is pure evidence and truth that shows that the forest manager of kiptunga and their forest Guard are aware of what's happening about illegal logging in the forest.
