GRIEVANCES FROM MEMBERS OF OGIEK COMMUNITY TO KENYA GOVERNMENT CONCERNING DESTRUCTION IN MAU /KIPTUNGA FOREST.

Following recent action taken by the kenya goverment through ministry of forest lead by CS allowing some of the sawmillers to cut down the exotic trees and ferried to sawmill /companies, without involving Ogiek Community who are living around the forest, for comercial purposes and yet ogiek have been planting and providing security to this exotic trees since there forefathers to date.

 Ogiek comunity who resides in mariashoni, where this activity is taking place have been complaining to the gorverment for consinderation yet no schools in kiptunga and the surrounding and they are watching there resourses being taken away by sawmillers/companies

THE GOVERNMENT USED IMPERSONATORS WHO PRETENDED TO BE THE COUNCIL OF ELDERS FROM THE OGIEK COMMUNITY TO MARK THE BOUNDARIES.

The exercise of marking the boundaries by the government in the East part of Mau has excluded the Ogiek Community. This shows that the right to access the information has been violated,  Some of the beacons were installed inside bamboo forests, and they didn't consider social and environmental impact assessment . The government used impersonators who pretended to be the council of elders from the Ogiek Community to mark the boundaries from the Sururu, Likia Mauche, Nessuit, and Mariashoni Bararget with aims  To settle peoples from Bomet, Transmara, Kericho, and Baringo. The Ogiek community are living in worry that at the end of the exercises, they might end up losing their struggle in court, both local and regional courts, and losing their ancestral land. Mr. President today, when other Kenyas celebrate Jamhuri Day, remember that the Ogiek Community are suffering and also going through a lot of pain. This is after the state function, which took place at Mariashoni Kapsinendet one week ago. That function was not representing the picture of your Government simply because the leaders who were present that day were from the entire kipsigis led by the Majority leader of the senate Hon Aaron Cheruiyot The PS of land Generali Nixon Korir and the members of the county Assembly from Nakuru County and Across Nakuru the MPs from  Nakuru County and former MPs from Bomet and also the cartel who were purporting to be the Ogiek.
