GRIEVANCES FROM MEMBERS OF OGIEK COMMUNITY TO KENYA GOVERNMENT CONCERNING DESTRUCTION IN MAU /KIPTUNGA FOREST.


Following recent action taken by the kenya goverment through ministry of forest lead by CS allowing some of the sawmillers to cut down the exotic trees and ferried to sawmill /companies, without involving Ogiek Community who are living around the forest, for comercial purposes and yet ogiek have been planting and providing security to this exotic trees since there forefathers to date.

 Ogiek comunity who resides in mariashoni, where this activity is taking place have been complaining to the gorverment for consinderation yet no schools in kiptunga and the surrounding and they are watching there resourses being taken away by sawmillers/companies.

NOPUIYOPUI IS UNDER THE SIEGE BECAUSE OF EUCALYPTUS TREE'S AND SHAMBA SYSTEM.

The famous Wetlands well known As Nopuiyopui and Many Other wetlands around kiptunga Forest are becoming the Grazing site of Cows From Neighbouring County of Narok Remember that these wetlands are the source of many rivers, including  River Mara ,Ewazo Nyiro,River Amalo, and Lake Victoria in kisumu County, which later joined River Nile in Egypt. Nopuiyopui is now under the siege because of Eucalyptus Trees and shamba system Around the Wetland.
