MORE THAN10,000 INDIGENOUS TREE'S WERE PLANTED, AND THE COMMUNITY WAS ASKED TO PLANT AT THEIR HOMES


Today, the exercise of planting the tree went successfully in Kiptunga together with the members of the Ogiek Community, Ogiek People Development Program  OPDP, Kenya Forest Service, Kenya Defence Force, National Youth Service, Kenya Red Cross and KeRRA

More than 10,000 indigenous trees were planted, and the community was asked to plant at their homes.

What is very important for now is to take care of the tree which was planted.

The exercise of marking the boundaries by the government in the East part of Mau has excluded the Ogiek Community. This shows that the right to access the information has been violated,  Some of the beacons were installed inside bamboo forests, and they didn't consider social and environmental impact assessment . The government used impersonators who pretended to be the council of elders from the Ogiek Community to mark the boundaries from the Sururu, Likia Mauche, Nessuit, and Mariashoni Bararget with aims  To settle peoples from Bomet, Transmara, Kericho, and Baringo. Members of the Ogiek Community in Mariashoni molo sub county are developing a fear towards the renovation of a colonial building to use as their offices by the Kenya Forest Service and yet they were added over to community chief's by Colonialists and confirmed by Government to be chief's office in mariashoni administrative unit.
